It's the Tour Grand Finale for THE REQUIEM RED by BRYNN CHAPMAN!

On Tour with Prism Book Tours.

Book Tour Grand Finale for
The Requiem Red
By Brynn Chapman

We hope you enjoyed touring an historical insane asylum and get to know Jane, who has hope for the first time since she can remember. If you missed any of the stops, go back and check them out now...

Launch - Welcome to The Requiem Red

So….Jane is brilliant, misunderstood and incomprehensibly lonely. Until a new orderly arrives...to change her life forever.

Please, walk alongside her...down frozen corridors, and through horrible treatments--flee from the Soothing Hills Monster, and root for her to win.

Win the orderly’s heart, win back her mind, and her freedom.

Cover2Cover - Excerpt

“Patient Twenty-Nine!”

I flinch at the use of my patient number and slide from the hidden window seat, snapping my book closed to bound down the corridor. The nurse’s cry came from the direction of my room.

“Twenty-niiiine … ” a male, sing-song voice calls out through the bars. I swerve and dart out of his way, narrowly missing those yellowed, grasping fingernails. My heartbeat doubles as I spin and run faster.

Zerina Blossom's Books - Ten Reasons for Insane Asylum Admissions in 1800

Interestingly, as I spoke to my mother about the trip—she related that as a young teen, she and her brother stayed for a week at an asylum in the 1940’s in Kentucky. Relatives were working as caretakers there, and my mother had vivid memories of hay bales, and an asylum dance…and a few scary stories, that did make their way into the books.

Mythical Books - Inspiration for The Requiem Red

As a YA history-fantasy novelist, typically a place or an incident which will spark an entire book, sometimes an entire series. This is what occurred as I toured and researched 19th century asylums.

I toured Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in West Virginia.

As I am in medicine by day, my particular profession necessitated I do an internship rotation in psych, as well as a minor in college. I love neuroscience and the history of medicine, so they often appear rolled into one, in my books.

"I loved this book! I literally could not put it down, so I definitely made a mistake in starting it at work. I found it so interesting to keep having a narration change between 29, Jules, and Dr. Greyjoy."

Wishful Endings - Treatments in the Victorian Asylum

The cold, snow and ice, are important to Jane, ingrained in her memory. She covers her walls of sketches of cold—both good and evil. From the imposing snowflake- covered-spires of the asylum to beautiful images of ice skating and sleigh rides—experiences she has only read about.

Mel's Shelves - Review

"It felt authentic to that time period (1894) and the stories that we hear now about insane asylums and how they were run, how the patients were treated and the overall creepiness of them. The story ends abruptly, and there are still questions to be answered, so I'm looking forward to reading more!"

deal sharing aunt - Interview

What would you like my readers to know?

That I truly love books as much as they do. And my characters step out of my head. Like my fiction or not, I have never had a reader complain they were cardboard cut outs i was moving about the page.

They have dreams, desires and fears--just like you.

"This is truly a story I can’t wait to read more of! I really hope there will be more because the ending is so crazy. If you like YA Historical Urban Fantasy, you’ve got to check out The Requiem Red."

Colorimetry - Synesthesia and Seeing Time

In my new book, Requiem Red, the protagonist, Jane, has synesthesia.

What is that, say you? It is a neural anomaly—where the senses mix—and people can taste shapes, have letters and colors paired in their minds, and a plethora of other sensory combinations.

Parrell Williams, a modern day musician, who has written for Britney Spears and others, has musical-color synesthesia, as does my character Jane.

Addicted Readers - Synesthesia and Requiem Red

My character in Requiem Red, Jane, has synesthesia—which is a combining of the senses.

Some of these people with this neural variant taste shapes, hear colors, and a massive variety of sensory pairings. Jane is a composer in the 1800’s and she sees musical notes in color.

"I like how the author explored two characters with synesthesia and showed that despite their disorders they could still be considered “normal.” The girls just saw the world differently and it was interesting to read from their POVs as they experienced their environment."

Patient Twenty-nine.

A monster roams the halls of Soothing Hills Asylum. Three girls dead. 29 is endowed with the curse…or gift of perception. She hears messages in music, sees lyrics in paintings. And the corn. A lifetime asylum resident, the orchestral corn music is the only constant in her life.

Mason, a new, kind orderly, sees 29 as a woman, not a lunatic. And as his belief in her grows, so does her self- confidence. That perhaps she might escape, might see the outside world.

But the monster has other plans. The missing girl's share one common thread...each was twenty-nine's cell mate.

Will she be next?

Born and raised in western Pennsylvania, Brynn Chapman is the daughter of two teachers. Her writing reflects her passions: science, history and love—not necessarily in that order. In real life, the geek gene runs strong in her family, as does the Asperger’s syndrome. Her writing reflects her experience as a pediatric therapist and her interactions with society’s downtrodden. In fiction, she’s a strong believer in underdogs and happily-ever-afters. She also writes non-fiction and lectures on the subjects of autism and sensory integration and is a medical contributor to online journal The Age of Autism.

We're sharing the Review and Excerpt Tour Grand Finale for DARK MEMORIES by LINDA HOPE LEE!

On Tour with Prism Book Tours.

Book Tour Grand Finale for
Dark Memories
By Linda Hope Lee

We hope you enjoyed reading the first chapter of Dark Memories and its reviews! If you missed any, go back and check them out...

Launch - Introduction to Dark Memories

When writing a new story, I often begin with a setting. Such was the case with Dark Memories. I live in the Pacific Northwest, and one year I took a trip to our country’s opposite corner, where I visited Vermont. I had never been there before but had heard how beautiful the countryside is, and it did not disappoint.

Bookworm Nation - Review

"This hooked me right from the start. . . . I liked Deborah and Milo and how they have to work together to solve the mystery and learn to forgive along the way. I thought the mystery was well done, I like trying to figure out who the bad guy is and being surprised in the end."

Deborah did not want to share Carla Cassidy’s fate. The young woman’s tragic death was the reason Deborah left Fairfield four years ago. Now she was back, intending to once again make the small town her home. The cruel note told her someone didn’t want her to return.

His deep voice rang with friendliness, and if Deborah’s instincts were on target, his gaze held more than a hint of male interest. Despite her annoyance with the car breakdown, she experienced a tingle of excitement.

Bookworm Lisa - Excerpt

Understanding glimmered in his dark eyes. “Okay, I get it. You’re afraid to go off with a stranger, right?

Don’t blame you. Can’t be too careful these days. But, let me introduce myself, and then we won’t be strangers anymore.

"The author definitely tries to give you a sense that everyone is guilty so you don't know who it really is but suspect everyone. There are a lot of people to suspect with possible motives. . . . This book was clean and I really appreciate that."

As Deborah listened to Milo talk about his farm and horses, she leaned back and relaxed against the cool leather. She even allowed herself to daydream a little. He seemed such a congenial person, not to say handsome and appealing. Perhaps they could forge a friendship. She doubted there was a Mrs. Jordan. If a wife existed, surely he would have mentioned her by now.

EskieMama Reads - Excerpt

The gesture meant he obviously expected more. But as far as Deborah was concerned, she had already revealed enough. Of course, if they continued their association, he would eventually learn more. But not now. Not when they’d just met. She set her mug and empty plate on the coffee table. “This has been really pleasant, but I should be going.”

Adult Romantic Suspense
Paperback & ebook, 210 Pages
March 25th 2016 by The Wild Rose Press, Inc

Held responsible for a student's tragic death, teacher Deborah Kent was fired from an exclusive girls' school in Fairfield, Vermont and left town in disgrace. Now, she’s back in Fairfield with the intention of operating a bed and breakfast from her guardian's Victorian home. When threatening notes indicate someone isn’t happy with her return, Deborah suspects her student’s death was no accident. The man she turns to is the one least likely to help.

Horse breeder Milo Jordan has long harbored anger toward the woman he blames for his younger sister's death. Too many questions have gone unanswered, but now Deborah appears to hold the key to the truth. Can he put aside his anger, and his growing attraction, and work with her to solve the puzzle of the deadly event?

We're launching the Book Tour for THE REQUIEM RED by BRYNN CHAPMAN!

On Tour with Prism Book Tours.

Book Tour Launch for
The Requiem Red
By Brynn Chapman

Come along with us to an historical insane asylum and get to know Jane, who has hope for the first time since she can remember...

Tour Schedule

Welcome to The Requiem Red

Hi! Welcome to the world of Requiem Red.

To understand why my words come out like they do...let me share a little about my life.

By day, I am a pediatric therapist--but in the past I have worked in neurology, hand therapy, and done psych rotations. I have Asperger’s in my family--and work with autism every day.

My life has been...eclectic, to say the least. I am MENSA eligible--but have never applied...I have a near eidetic memory for music and hear it spatially--at least with an orchestra. I have dissected cadavers, including fishing through troughs of arms and legs, have toured asylums and walked through cemeteries and history walks in St. Simons, Charleston, Gettysburg, Salem and many others in the name of research.

I am a member of Romance Writers of America and Horror Writers...and that, in a nutshell, summarizes my novels.

Jane, a musical virtuoso, was admitted to Soothing Hills Asylum at the tender age of three.

She has synethesia, a combining of the senses--she sees music in color. And...when a particular type of music appears in her brain, one that is only red, she hears voices.

For this, she was admitted, and here she has stayed...alone, bereft of touch or love.

As I analyze the root of the book, Jane’s childhood suffering comes from what I see everyday as a pediatric therapist...and what I have seen in psych wards myself.

Historically, no matter the area, when an unexplainable phenomenon occurred, people were either jailed, incarcerated, accused of witchcraft or hung. No burning of witches, at least not in Salem. That was Europe’s deal, lol.

Welcome, to Requiem Red.

— Brynn

We're sharing the Grand Finale for TRIX AND THE FAERIE QUEEN by ALETHEA KONTIS!

On Tour with Prism Book Tours.

Review & Excerpt Tour Grand Finale for
Trix and the Faerie Queen
By Alethea Kontis

We hope you enjoyed hearing about Trix Woodcutter, who finally has his own adventure! If you missed any of the stops, go back and check them out now and read the first chapter of the book...

Launch - Welcome to Faerie

Trix Woodcutter and I invite you all to join us on this newest adventure. Trix and the Faerie Queen is filled with more talking animals than I ever thought I would write and a journey to a place from my dreams: Under the Hill, to the high seat of the Faerie Queen. There are so many characters in this story (Alastair is going to hurt me when he starts making notes for the audio)--I won’t tell you which one is my favorite. That is a choice you must make yourself.

Prism Book Tours - Excerpt: Chapter 1, Part 1

Most people with common sense would have remembered that gold did not float. Trix Woodcutter rarely qualified as “most people.”

“Trixie, you are a prize idiot,” he said to himself, because neither Peter nor Saturday were there to say it for him. He took a deep breath and dove hard.

Wishful Endings - Excerpt: Chapter 1, Part 2

“Perhaps our next attempt at swimming should be in a shallower pond,” she said when she caught her breath.

“Perhaps indeed. Thank you, friends!” Trix patted the heads of the turtles and bid them farewell before turning back to Lizinia. “I’m sorry. I did not think about the gold.”

Brooke Blogs - Excerpt: Chapter 1, Part 3

“What? Trix, you’re staring at me.”

“And here I thought the stars were amazing.”

“It’s not amazing. It’s just how I am.”

“Trust me,” said Trix. “To the rest of the world, you’re pretty amazing.”

"Trix and the Faerie Queen, by Alethea Kontis, is just as awesome as the previous book, Trixter. I love these two of all the Books of Arriland most of all because they are so full of light and laughter, as opposed to the creepy dark magic in a few of the others. I also love how all the books tie together so perfectly."

deal sharing aunt - Excerpt: Chapter 1, Part 4

Trix held fast to Lizinia’s hand, but he did not move. The noise had happened, but he felt no vibrations beneath his feet. Not so much as a breath of wind stirred the leaves in the trees of the forest around them. He closed his eyes and searched inside himself for the Fear that Needa the spider had taught him about. There was a sort of…tingle…at the back of his neck and in his belly. This might have been the animal magic inside him telling him flee, but his instincts were still not strong enough to know where.

"Readers will enjoy the blossoming fairy tale friendship between Trix and his golden girl Lizinia. Their budding relationship is totally fairy tale--Lizinia is the perfect companion and Trix is completely appreciative of her talents. Fans of Arilland will be happy to see a couple of Trix's sisters and hear about more. Readers will be left clamoring for more at the end of the novel and eagerly await the next installment."

Becky on Books - Excerpt: Chapter 1, Part 5

“Have a care, Trix Woodcutter. It would not do to to have you falling to your death right when I need you most.”

Power. The woman’s voice that filled his ears was powerful. It reminded him of someone—a member of his family?—but he could not place it.

Colorimetry - Excerpt: Chapter 1, Part 6

The moment Trix put all the pieces together, he was too shocked to reply. What in the world did the Faerie Queen want with him? If this even was the world…on this grassy mound, surrounded by a ring of mushrooms. Even the mushrooms bowed, bonnets to the queen.

Mel's Shelves - Excerpt: Chapter 1, Part 7

“You are the Boy Who Talks to Animals,” she said. “And with the fey magic bound, anyone under the Hill with animal magic has been turned into a beast. They cannot talk to us, nor can they talk to each other. Soon there will be nothing but chaos, and such an imbalance can tear this world apart.” The Faerie Queen clasped her hands together as she made her plea. “I want to make you my Emissary, Trix Woodcutter. You must speak for the animals. Save Faerie. And save the world.”

A Backwards Story - Review of Trixter

"I'm really glad there's more than one book about Trix and his journey because the first book, TRIXTER, is novella-length and we don't spend nearly enough time with Trix or his new, gold-dipped friend Lizinia. . . . I love the way Trix is also at the center of an epic prophecy, as are many of the Woodcutters."

Though not a long story, Trix & the Faerie Queen packs a powerful punch. It doesn't slow its pace for a moment as our lovable scamp Trix and his golden companion Lizinia fall into one scrape after another. We get the chance to reunite with some familiar faces, and to put faces with a few of the names we've heard about. And we finally get to go to Faerie. *squee!* . . . With the ending I am left with here, waiting even until fall for Alethea's next book seems far too long a wait.

Whatever - Special Author Interview

“TEHETHJO” is one heck of an acronym, but Alethea Kontis knows what it means, why it’s important, and how it relates to her new novel Trix and the Faerie Queen.

Join Trix Woodcutter on an epic new animal-filled adventure!

Fey magic and animal magic: that troublemaking imp Trix Woodcutter has both, if not the ability to use them to their full potential. While traveling with his companion—the golden girl Lizinia—to see the King of Eagles, Trix is sent a vision of the Faerie Queen, who is in desperate need of his help. An evil sorceress has stormed Faerie and trapped all the fey magic under the Hill, leaving the Faerie Queen powerless! Trix’s talent for communicating with animals is desperately needed…but before he braves the wild world of Faerie he must arm himself, with nothing less than the bow and arrows of a god.

With the help of his gilded companion, her ghost-cat godfather, a blind brownie and a sister or two, the Boy Who Talks to Animals must befriend a mischievous leprechaun, best a wolf, and journey into the depths of Faerie to restore order and free the fey magic before the imbalance destroys the world.

Trix and the Faerie Queen is second in The Trix Adventures and sixth in the Books of Arilland.
